TREGARON sorting office closed last weekend, leaving Royal Mail under fire for not considering alternative locations.

AM Elin Jones has slammed the centralisation of the service in Aberystwyth, some 18 miles away in Tregaron.

Last month’s public meeting in Tregaron organised by Cllr Catherine Hughes gave staff and residents the chance to quiz Royal Mail managers about the closure of the town’s sorting office when the Post Office relocated to the Spar supermarket.

Claims were made that the office closure was already a ‘done deal’ before anything was announced.
