Capel Bangor’s only shop has shut its doors for the last time.
Mel and Dan Hughes, both 42, opened Exchange Stores in 2016 but are now “closing with a heavy heart”.
On the reasons for the closure, Mel said: “We had a difficult time last year.
“As a result we have reached a point, as a family, where we have to move on. It was a hard decision and not one we’ve taken lightly.
“But circumstances unfortunately have led to a point where we’ve have had to say ‘it’s time to move on’.
“It’s been a pleasure and the rewards are massive, but it has been a big commitment.”
Exchange Stores closed for the last time on Sunday with four members of staff, two part-time and two Saturday workers.
Mel commented: “Over the years, we’ve offered a number of local people jobs and it’s been a pleasure to give them the opportunities, they’ve been very grateful.”
Mel added that the shop will be up for sale, and that the family hope that it will be bought and reopened as a convenience store.
