SPEND a few pennies and you could become the proud new owner of a former public toilet block.

The fully equipped toilet block, adjacent to a car park at Bwlch y Gle, Llanidloes, close to the Clywedog Reservoir, is being sold at Paul Fosh Auctions next week.

Paul Fosh, of the Newport-based auctioneers, says the guide price for the unusual Powys property is nominal so the toilet block could possibly pass to a new owner for just a few pounds at auction depending on interest.

The loos with a view are next to a 250-hectare stretch of water and unspoilt surrounding countryside at the eastern tip of the Clywedog Reservoir.

The former toilet block, at the edge of a car park and close to the B4518, is being sold on behalf of Powys County Council and is subject to retaining its current use as a public convenience.

Mr Fosh said: “Although not common, similar former public convenience properties have in the past been successfully converted into cafés or snack bars by their new owners.

“However, before any of this can happen any new owner would need to apply for planning permission for change of use and also for the lifting of any restrictive covenant that might be on the building.”

The former public conveniences go up for sale alongside some 64 other properties at Paul Fosh Auctions sale on Thursday, 24 March, at The Park Inn Hotel, Circle Way East, Llanedeyrn, starting at 6pm.
