A man struggling to find a job has started work at LAS Recycling Ltd, Lampeter, after receiving support from Workways+.

Ian Harvey, who had been unemployed for nearly two years was struggling to find suitable employment since moving to Ceredigion.

Workways+ was able to help Ian look at his options and find a role that suited him best.

Ian said: “I’m absolutely thrilled and grateful that Workways+ were able to help me gain employment with a local business. I worked many years as a chef but since moving to Ceredigion, I really wanted to find a role that satisfied my childhood ambition of working with trucks - so now that I’m a lorry driver for LAS Recycling Ltd my dream has come true and I‘m enjoying every moment of being part of the team here.”

Mark Saunders, director of LAS Recycling Ltd, said: “It has been a pleasure working with John Evans of Workways+ and through him, arranging to offer Ian an opportunity to get back into employment.

"It is pleasing to be able to give a person like Ian, who is passionate about driving the chance to fulfil his ambition of becoming a lorry driver.

"As a company, we believe in giving everybody a chance and I am grateful that Workways+ have been able to provide us with an excellent employee that probably wouldn’t have had the opportunity, without a project like Workways+ supporting them, in organising the training required.”

Ceredigion Workways+ offers training, qualifications, volunteering placements, paid work experience opportunities and a personal mentoring service to help people get their lives back on track.
