THE labour market in Ceredigion remains “buoyant”, according to the manager of the county’s Job Centres.
Despite the overall number of out-of-work benefit claimants rising by five, the figures for Ceredigion remain among the lowest in Wales with only 540 total claimants, of which only 140 — 1.1 per cent of the population — of these are between the ages of 16 and 24 — the lowest percentage in Wales.
Shân Gwyn, manager of Ceredigion Job Centre, said: “Again the labour market has remained buoyant and we are continue to engage with employers to support our unemployed customers.
“Yesterday saw the commencement of the ‘Hospitality Works’ campaign which runs for a month and is run in partnership with the British Hospitality Association and Employers.
“The campaign’s aim is to promote the Hospitality Sector to suitable job seekers. Employers across the industry have pledged to provide opportunities and vacancies for job seekers and engage locally available training to prepare the future workforce.
“This month also saw the launch of the online budgeting support tool which, in conjunction with the Money Advice Service, provides free online advice and support for Universal Credit customers to make the most of their money and manage monthly payments.
“Customers can also access the free, independent and confidential advice on 0800 1387777.”
