A company building Machynlleth’s new hospital is to open its doors to the public in an event “aimed at attracting young people and career changers to consider a career in construction”.
The £15 million redevelopment of Bro Ddyfi Community Hospital started in June and is expected to be completed in early 2023.
The project has now announced they will take part in Open Doors 2021, delivered by Build UK, which seeks to inspire young people and career changers of all ages to consider and explore a “dynamic and exciting career” in the construction industry.
Open Doors takes place between Monday and Friday, 4 and 8 October, and Bro Ddyfi will be open for visitors everyday from 12pm.
Bookings are now available on the Open Doors website.
Darren Hancock, operations manager at Willmott Dixon, who are overseeing the work on the hospital said: “We are delighted to be involved in Open Doors again and particularly excited to open Bro Ddyfi community Hospital to the local public of Machynlleth.
“It is a great platform for us to showcase the hard work that goes into building these landmarks.”
Suzannah Nichol, Build UK chief executive, said: “There is nothing quite like visiting a construction site, whether it is major project you have seen on the news or one in your local area, to get an idea of just how exciting a career in construction can be.
“Open Doors gives everyone the opportunity to go through the site gates to see just what goes on and perhaps even spot your ideal job!
“If you are thinking about your future, exploring your options, or just fancy a look, then book your visit or take advantage of our interactive online events to find out more.”
The development at the Bro Ddyfi Community Hospital will establish the centre as an integrated health and well-being facility for the local community.
As well as integrating primary care services into the hospital site, the facility will also provide a base for health, local authority and third sector teams, encouraging improved integration and efficiency and supporting wellbeing, prevention and health promotion.
The overall programme of work is expected to take around 18 months to complete, with the new facility available by early 2023.
