CEREDIGION MP Mark Williams is urging the Post Office to reconsider its decision to move Llandysul Post Office away from the town centre and across the border into Carmarthenshire.
He has raised his concerns with Post Office management over provisional plans to relocate the post office from Lincoln Street to Nisa Extra, in Pencader Road in neighbouring Pont Tyweli – a distance of around 500 metres.
“My immediate reaction to this news is one of great concern, especially around the impact that I believe this will have on access for many of my constituents,” said Mr Williams in a strongly worded letter.
“Llandysul is an important town in Ceredigion with a strong community. The community relies heavily on the strength of its high street - and access to services on it - with the Post Office at its centre.
The Post Office – who are inviting customers and interested parties to give their comments on the move in a six-week public consultation - insist the move would result in a modern open-plan local-style branch with extended opening hours.
The consultation will close on 17 February. Submissions can be made during the consultation by Freepost YOUR COMMENTS to Post Office Ltd, via email to [email protected], via the Customer Helpline on 03457 22 33 44 or Textphone 03457 22 33 55.
