A “SUBSTANTIAL” amount of money has been stolen from the safe of a popular pub while the owner was asleep upstairs.
Police are investigating the burglary at The Royal, on King Edward Street, Barmouth.
And the landlady, Lucy-Blue Walsh, who only took over the pub a few days earlier, has offered £1,000 to anyone who is able to name the “scumbags” responsible.
Captured on CCTV, two suspects in sportswear and balaclavas can be seen sheltering their faces from the pub’s cameras as a part of a “premeditated” criminal act in the early hours of Monday, 27 August.
Ms Walsh , who was living in Italy for years before moving back to take over The Royal, was sleeping upstairs at the time and thinks the perpetrators had keys, a safe card, and an intimate knowledge of the building.
“I am sick to my stomach and there’s £1,000 reward for their names.
“We will not stand for this but neither will we be scared away!” she said.
Police said enquiries are ongoing.
