A PLAN for car park lighting at the new Premier Inn on Aberystwyth seafront has been approved by planners despite the objections of Aberystwyth Town Council.

Plans for nine streetlights to illuminate the car park at the rear of the building on Marine Terrace were approved subject to conditions under delegated powers by Ceredigion planning officers.

The town council said it felt that nine lights was excessive and thought having lights in close proximity to St John’s Flats would have a detrimental effect on residents.

Premier Inn said: “The proposals will improve safety by providing sufficient lighting for guests and staff arriving or leaving the hotel after dark to manoeuvre safely around the site.”
