FURTHER rumours that Tesco is pulling out of the Mill Street development in Aberystwyth have been dismissed by the supermarket giant and scheme developers.
It had been claimed that Tesco was seeking to withdraw from its contract with developers Chelverton Deeley Freed to occupy the store and that efforts were instead being made to lease the store to Asda.
However, that rumour has been dismissed by both Tesco and Chelverton Deeley Freed.
A Tesco spokesperson said: “There’s no truth to those rumours whatsoever.”
Simon Morgan, of Chelverton Deeley Freed, added: “We are currently fitting out the store with Tesco equipment that is particular to their business.
“I consider that the rumour has no foundation.”
The Tesco and the Marks & Spencer stores are expected to open before Christmas.
