A TRAVEL website company has come under fire after it refused to publish a review on a Nefyn maritime museum because it was in Welsh only.
A review of the Llyn Maritime Museum in the Llyn village was submitted to Trip Advisor by Emrys Llewelyn, who runs guided walk business, Dro Dre in Caernarfon.
However, Mr Llewelyn’s review was rejected on the basis that it violated Trip Advisor’s language policy because it was written in Welsh.
Mr Llewelyn’s MP, Hywel Williams, said he was astonished that the travel review website refused to publish his views.
Mr Williams has now written to Trip Advisor’s UK headquarters in London urging the company to update their guidelines and allow reviews written in Welsh to be submitted.
“He also brought the issue to the attention of the Welsh Language Commissioner.
He said: “Trip Advisor accept single language reviews in a wide variety of languages from Czech to Norwegian, Serbian and Vietnamese.
“I am amazed and disappointed they refuse to do so in the Welsh language."
