THE hard work of Machynlleth’s market supervisor is helping attract visitors to the town.
Michael Clarke, the superintendent of the weekly market, was praised by town councillors who insisted the market compares favourably to any other in the area.
Cllr Richie Gaskell, the mayor of Machynlleth said the level of support for the market from traders showed how the hard work was paying off. He said: “The number of stalls we’re getting is unreal really.”
Cllr Michael Williams said work was continuing to attract traders and stallholders to the market even during more traditional quieter periods.
He said: “We’re really going out to encourage traders to Machynlleth in the off-peak season.
“It’s not just market traders that benefit, it’s the whole town that benefits. You wouldn’t get people coming to the town on Wednesday without the market.”
