A popular village pub near Aberystwyth which was ravaged by a major fire 15 months ago has risen from the ashes to re-open.
Caitlin Morse and Lewis Johnston, who took over Y Ffarmers pub in Llanfihangel-y-Creuddyn in July 2017, were left “shaken up” but “lucky to be alive” after fire ripped through the building on 27 January last year.
The pair, who were determined to re-open the pub - which is featured in the Michelin Guide, Good Pub Guide and AA Restaurant and Pub Guide - held a party at the renovated building last Saturday for people in the area to celebrate.
The official opening to the public took place on Friday, 3 May.
Work to rebuild the pub had been delayed several times, and Caitlin told the Cambrian News that it had been an “emotional journey” to return the pub to its former glory.
“We experienced a few delays with the rebuild but are pleased to be re-opened,” she said.
“We have had so much support from friends and customers of the pub, and this support has meant so much to us. There hasn’t been a week where we haven’t received at least one message of support or words of encouragement. The locals opening went really well and we had really good feedback. We can’t wait to welcome everyone back to see the new Y Ffarmers.”
