LLANDYSUL canoeists will feature in a new BBC One cookery series extolling the virtues of outdoor cooking and eating later this month.
Sam and Shauna’s Big Cook-Out follows Sam Evans and Shauna Guinn who five years ago quit their jobs in London to pursue their passion for barbecue and smoked food.
They travelled to the United States before returning home to set up the award-winning Hang Fire Smokehouse restaurant. Now they are using their food to bring communities across Wales together.
The second episode – due to be screened on Monday, 16 April - sees them visit the Llandysul Paddlers Canoe Club where they host a ‘big cook-out’ for the members and their families to reward their invaluable work in the community as well as helping to give young people opportunities to gain qualifications and take part in physical activity.
They also visit a nearby organic, family-run vegetable farm to source produce for the feast which sees them barbecue steak for over 100 people.
Sam and Shauna’s Big Cook-Out will air on BBC One Wales every Monday between 9 and 30 April at 7.30pm.
Gareth Bryant, of Llandysul Paddlers, said they had enjoyed hosting Sam and Shauna.
“It was amazing to have the gang at Llandysul,” he said. “We had great weather and great fun helping with the filming.
“Over the time Sam and Shauna were with us they got to meet lots of the local people and witnessed a slalom competition on the River Teifi and even had a go at running the famous rapids in a kayak."
