Madam,

I was totally shocked to read in the Cambrian News that the Aberystwyth to Cardiff bus is to finish (Direct bus from Aber to Cardiff to end next week).

It has now been guaranteed until the end of the year, but not beyond.

I have been a regular passenger, along with many of my friends, going to Cardiff or Swansea from the time when the 701 started.

It was lovely and comfortable to travel on a coach. Like many have told me, you travel the once on the regular bus to Cardiff and would not travel again, as it is back-breaking to travel all the way on a service bus. As our AM Elin Jones described, it’s like a cattle lorry all the way. That is why people do not go again.

I can assure the Welsh Government transport minister Ken Skates that if you put on a coach it will be a success, like everyone wants.

Please think again about the pensioners who enjoy a day out.

Yours etc,

H Jones, Peterwell Terrace, Lampeter.
