NEFYN residents can now enjoy the great outdoors as a result of financial support from Cartrefi Cymunedol Gwynedd’s Community Fund.

The community garden at Nefyn Age Well Centre was officially opened last week.

A number of residents came to the centre to enjoy the new garden, which includes new benches, plants and a unique garden feature – an old fishing boat which has been given a new lease of life with a fresh coat of paint.

Dylan Thomas, from Cartrefi Cymunedol Gwynedd’s Community Involvement team, said: “The new garden looks great and it was encouraging to see so many people at the official opening.

“Since CCG was established back in 2010 we have supported many community projects and invested hundreds of thousands across the county, showing that we provide much more than just bricks and mortar.”

The Age Cymru Gwynedd and Môn Centre in Nefyn provides a range of activities for people over 50 years old.

The new garden will allow them to enjoy the outdoors as well as the activ­ities that are held inside.
