Walking treasure hunt

A Walking treasure hunt will take place on Friday, 3 August. A chance to get to know the town, discover its hidden secrets and many fun facts.

The starting point is Aberaeron Memorial Hall between 5pm and 6.30pm, followed by a barbecue, bar and refreshments. For more information, contact the hall on 01545 574934.

There will be a Mass on Sunday 5 August at the Holy Cross Catholic Church, at 12.30pm.

Church services

Sunday, 5 August: Aberaeron, Holy Trinity: 8.45am - Cymun Bendigaid; 11am – Holy Communion and Sunday School, followed by refreshments; 5.30pm – Hymns on the Quay, outside the Tourist Information Centre.

Thursday. 2 August: 9.30am – Parish Communion in Holy Trinity Church Hall, followed by refreshments.

Aeron Valley Railway Society

The meeting of the society was held on 18 July and was well attended by both members and visitors. There was an illustrated talk by Roger Phelps, who gave a very entertaining account of Swiss railways, including some fascinating insights into St Barbara, the patron saint of tunnellers!

Owing to the unavailability of their previous venue, the Feathers Hotel, the society will hold future meetings in the British Legion Hall, Victoria Street. The next meeting will be on 22 August at 7.30pm with a return visit from John Perkin who will give a talk intriguingly entitled “The show that wasn’t.”

He will cover a mixture of railways in preservation and in their historical setting.

The society’s annual exhibition is taking place on 12 August at Llwyncelyn Hall from 10am.

There will be a good selection of layouts and traders present on the day.
