PRESIDENT Jan Cole welcomed everyone to the special St David’s Day celebration evening.
They were joined by guest visitors from neighbouring WI Institutes Barmouth, Llanfair, Deudraeth, and Ffestiniog, along with their own members’ guests for the evening.
A special welcome was given to Meinir Lloyd Jones, chairman of GMFWI.
They commenced the evening with a short business meeting, with news of members, birthday cards given out, and various reminders for dates to be entered into their diaries.
Tuesday, 27 March, Lunch at The Black Boy in Caernarfon, followed by a visit to The Galeri for the matinee performance, finding your feet.
GMFWI forthcoming events, quiz night, 27 April, at The Rugby Club, Dolgellau.
All Wales AGM Tuesday, 17 April to be held in the Vefn Lea Conference Centre, Newtown.
Jan thanked everyone who had participated in the coffee morning held on the 8 March, to raise much-needed funds for the Saving Denman Appeal.
Business matters concluded, the entertainment for the evening was introduced, The Harlech Silver Band.
The band played various favourite tunes in which was hummed along to, with David and Elsie Bissiker enthralling with their solo renditions of Calon Lân and Dancing with the Wolves, to name a few.
Erin Lloyd, a very talented Harpist from Llanbedr delighted all with her solo performance playing the harp.
The concert concluded with a rapturous applause from a much-appreciated audience, followed by a vote of thanks given by Edwina to the band members, with a special mention of thanks to Ceri Griffiths, who gives her time and knowledge in teaching the younger members of the band.
The evening continued, with everyone enjoying an array of welsh cheeses, Bara Brith, Welsh cakes, followed by tea/coffee.
The raffle commenced with an assortment of lovely prizes.
The guest WI visitors for the evening each gave a vote of thanks to the president, and Harlech WI members, for their invitations, warm welcome, and hospitality during the evening, and were already looking forward to joining them again in March 2019.
They welcome new members and visitors to all meetings, held in The Memorial Hall on the 2nd Wednesday of the month, commencing at 7pm.
