THE set psalm for the 11.15am Choral Matins, last Sunday morning was Psalm 23 and the choir’s anthem, The Lord is My Shepherd was based on the words of psalm and composed for four voices by Harold Goodall.
Many in the congregation would have remembered the piece being the theme tune for the long running TV series the Vicar of Dibley.
Organist and choirmaster, Darryl Walters conducted the choir and the accompanist was Daniel Smith from Llanrhystud. Daniel has been taking organ lessons from Darryl and has regularly being playing for services in and around Llanrhystud where his father is vicar.
The service was a special one for Daniel in that it was the first time he had played for a Choral Matins and the first time he had accompanied a church choir with an anthem.
