Memorial

A MEMORIAL was unveiled at the entrance of the Llandysul Park to commemorate the centenary of the Battle of the Somme. The inscription contains the names of the 58 soldiers from the area who gave their lives during the First and Second World Wars. The unveiling was carried out by Cllr Terry Griffiths, an ex-soldier of the South Wales Borderers Regiment, and active member of the British Legion and the Poppy Appeal

OUR meeting took place at the Porth Hotel on Tuesday, 13 September after our summer break.

This meeting was very well attended.

Our chairman, Mary Williams opened the meeting, wishing everyone a warm welcome.

During the notices, we were advised that Len Evans, from Carmarthen had sadly passed away.

Mr Evans was an ex member of the club.

There were four apologies. We then moved on to our speakers for the afternoon.

Einir Wyn Reynolds and Ioan Wyn Evans, who gave an excellent talk on behalf of Mr D T Davies.

Mr Davies has written a book on his war experiences and his journey to freedom.

A vote of thanks was given by John Davies on behalf of the club.

The next meeting will be our Thanksgiving Service at the Porth Hotel at 2pm on Tuesday, 11 October, not forgetting the lunches, also at the Porth, on the last Wednesday of the month.
