A PENSIONERS’ group will be getting together for a festive celebration thanks to a gift from a national charity.

Clwb Croeso has had a winter celebration grant from Age Cymru as part of its national campaign to combat loneliness and isolation.The group will use the money to hold a festive event during the winter months to support vulnerable older people in the local area.Diane Elliott from Clwb Croeso said: “The club is so pleased to receive this generous grant as part of Age Cymru’s Spread the Warmth campaign, this gives us the opportunity to hold a fun-filled day for older people in the area who might otherwise miss out on the Christmas spirit. Thanks to Age Cymru’s Winter Celebration grant we can give local older people a day to remember, and some company over the festive period.”Age Cymru is joining forces with older people’s groups across Wales to help combat loneliness during the winter months.Victoria Lloyd, Age Cymru’s director of influencing and programme development said: “We’re pleased to give the club this gift through the Spread the Warmth campaign, to combat loneliness during the cold winter months.“The annual Spread the Warmth campaign highlights the importance of looking out for older people during winter, and we’re delighted to be able to support groups across Wales to do this with the Winter Celebration grants.”If you’re a member of a club, society or group, send your news to [email protected]
