Local History Society

THERE was an excellent turn out for the March meeting of the Society at the Porth Hotel where Tom Cowcher gave a talk about Llanfair Mansion.

He had invited the former owner Mrs Kidd and former employees of the mansion to share their memories and stories. Some of those stories were about Mrs Kidd’s auntie, Mrs Douglas Fraser who many of audience remembered.

The History Society are very grateful to everyone who came along; it was a memorable evening.

The next meeting is Wednesday, 25 April at 7.15pm in Tysul hall with the dynamic Richard Ireland, whose topic is Wooden Horses and Dead Vermin. A small donation of £3 is asked of non-members.
