Christmas Collection

Llanidloes Rotary Club were overwhelmed by the generosity of the community during their annual street collection. The club takes to the town every Christmas to raise funds towards Rotary good causes and is always humbled by how generous everyone is. This year’s collection took place on Saturday, 23 December next to the Town Hall, the Co-Op and Woosnam & Davies Newsagents.

Rotarian Mike Catley was absent from this year’s collection, however was replaced by Father Christmas who kindly stood in for him to help spread a little festive joy. President Stephen Meyer thanked his fellow Rotarians for their commitment throughout 2017 and confirmed £629.47 was raised on this final collection.

Night at the Proms

There is a fund-raising evening, at Llanidloes High School, on Friday, 19 January. The doors open at 6:30pm then there is a fashion show at 7.30pm. There will be live entertainment and a raffle. All proceeds to the school.

Only Legs Aloud

THE end of year volunteers’ meal at the Angel Inn on 14 December telebrated another very succesful year for Llanidloes Only Legs Aloud Club.

Membership has risen by 100 new members now totalling 500, due to the professional attendance of the District Nurses and the friendliness of the club. Long may it continue to help anyone with leg problems. Just turn up at the Institute any Thursday morning between 9 and 11.30am.

Dementia friendly

Get involved with creating a Dementia Friendly Llanidloes by attending the next meeting on 23 January at 6.30pm, at Maesywennol Daycentre.

You can get involved by becoming a Dementia Friend and learning about what its like to live with dementia and the small things you can do to make a difference. You could become a Dementia Friends Champion and train others to be Dementia Friends in your area or workplace.
