Community council

THE council met on 6 December to discuss correspondence and matters raised by the community.

Llanrhystud Football Club confirmed they had, and would continue to, cut the grass in the playing field even though they had not entered a team in the league this year. Permission was given to pay the football club £1,799 for cutting the grass in the second half of 2016 and the first half of 2017.

Permission was also given to pay the clerk’s out of pocket expenses for 2017.

A plan for new equipment in the playing field was agreed and if the quote for the work is acceptable, the clerk will begin an application for a play opportunities grant.

The trunk road authority’s reply to the council’s request last month was that a pedestrian crossing survey will take place on the A487 in the next financial year and that they will consider the request to change the speed limit to 30mph from the school lane to beyond the service station in their next review.

The county council replied that there was no statutory restriction prohibiting the riding of cycles on a public footpath such as the beach footpath.

There were no objections to the planning applications A171070 and A171071 for the erection of dwellings on plots 3 and 6-9 Cae’r Felin.

An appeal was received from Welsh Hearts which will be considered at the end of the year

The charity organises training sessions on the use of defibrillators. It was decided to ask for one to take place in Llanrhystud at the beginning of next year.

The correspondence received included thank you letters from Aberaeron Town Improvements Committee and Aberaeron school, and consultations from the county council about a review of the LDP, the police and crime commissioner about police precept and the NHS about establishing a major trauma network for south and west Wales and south Powys. These were considered and replied to appropriately.

Several concerns were raised and passed on to the county council for appropriate action: sheep grazing in fields through which the coastal path passes have contracted a disease by eating dog mess; large vehicles are becoming stuck after following their sat navs down country lanes; debris has caught under the Glanwern bridge causing flooding; mud on the Llanddeiniol roads; flooding on the Joppa road caused by a blocked drain or culvert.

The next meeting is on 3 January at 7.30pm in the Memorial Hall.
