THE latest community news from Llanrhystud
Community Council
Llanrhystud Community Council met on 7 February to discuss the correspondence and matters raised by the community.
The Mid Wales Trunk Road Authority carried out a traffic survey on 30 and 31 January – the purpose to see if there is the need for a pedestrian crossing on the A487 near to the bridge and a central refuge near the Memorial Hall.
The council has been awarded a Play Opportunities grant of £4,999 in order to install some additional wooden play equipment in the playing field. The work will be carried out before the end of March weather permitting.
One Voice Wales had sent a copy of a case study describing how a local community had become a Bee Friendly accredited area – a copy will be posted on the council’s website. This information prompted a discussion on a Plastic Free Area and the need to raise awareness of plastic litter in the area. Is there anyone interested in taking up either of these ideas?
Appeals received over the year 2017/18 were discussed and a decision taken to make the following awards: £100 each to Llanddeiniol Church, Llanrhystud Church, Llanddeiniol Community Association, Y Ddolen, Llanrhystud Memorial Hall, Ysgol Myfenydd school’s healthy schools committee, YFC Llanddeiniol, Wales Air Ambulance and £50 each to the Ceredigion Branch of the Samaritans and Welsh Hearts. A reminder that there will be a training session on the use of defibrillators by the charity Welsh Hearts on 14 March.
Permission was given to pay a bill of £29.95 for the website. Letters have been written to Elin Jones AM and Ben Lake MP to ask for their support in requests to Ceredigion County Council to move the flashing school warning light from its present position on school lane to the B4337.
The next meeting is on 7 March at 7.30pm in the Memorial Hall.
