Ladies’ golf

MACHYNLLETH Lady Golfers held their AGM in February when retiring captain Rhian introduced Jean Preston, the new captain for 2018/19.

After a very successful year of golf, all the trophies were played and the eclectic games are ongoing.

Officials for the year are Jean Preston, captain; Helen Lewis, vice captain; Alice Hughes, secretary; Ruth Thapa, treasurer; Rhian Wyn, match and competitions; Helen Lewis, handicap secretary; Rhian Wynn, catering.

The ladies now look forward to a year of golf, hopefully with drier weather.

Planning

IN the period 13 to 21 February, county planners approved an application for the erection of a new conservatory on the existing flat roof of garage, Ty Isaf, Ceinws.

In the same period, an application for change of use of land for the siting of three holiday pods, creation of parking area and all associated works, Tynewydd, Tal-y-Wern.

Get Set Wales

Get Set Wales presents ‘Dance for Toga’ a night to raise funds to support gender equality for girls in Toga.

Featuring the bands Chocolate and the Surfragettes, plus Get Set Wales’ world premier film, bar, raffle and more. Doors open 7.30pm on Saturday, 17 March at Derwenlas Village Hall, Derwenlas.

Annual meeting

MACH Maethlon, the local edible plant-growing group is extending a strong welcome to all to attend the group’s annual general meeting 2018 to celebrate the achievements of ‘Green Isle Growers’, ‘Dyfi land share’ and ‘Edible Mach’ and help to generate ideas for the year to come.

The meeting, 6pm to 8pm, will be held in St Peter’s Church meeting room on Wednesday, 7 March.

Civic Society

A bi-monthly meeting of the Machynlleth and District Civic Society’s executive committee will be held at the Tabernacle, Heol Pen’rallt, on Thursday, 15 March, at 7pm. All members of the society are entitled to attend.

This will be the committee’s last bi-monthly meeting before the annual general meeting scheduled for Thursday, 24 May.

Mach Month

REGRETTABLY, due to the very inclement weather of 1 March, Powys County Council’s ‘Mach Month’ roadshow and informal consultation event at the local bowling club had to be cancelled.

It will now be held on Thursday, 15 March, at the bowling club, 2-7pm.
