THE first meeting of the New Year was held at Ala Road Chapel Vestry at 7pm on Tuesday, 9 January, and was chaired by the president, Daphne Jones.

Daphne introduced and welcomed the guest, Vince Mears, who is the husband of Sharon, one of the members.

Vince gave an evening of entertainment by singing a variety of songs, accompanying himself on his guitar.

His repertoire ranged from Country Western to Opera, for which he has had training.

Between each song Vince read poems from a book he had published previously and gave a resume of his interesting life story.

The members thoroughly enjoyed the evening and were able to join in on some of the choruses.

A vote of thanks was given by Janet Owen.

The tea hostesses were Nava Jones and Doreen Smith.

The raffle prize was won by Joyce Griffith.

The business part of the meeting then followed with matters arising discussed.

The next meeting will be on Tuesday, 6 February, at 7pm at the Ala Road Chapel Vestry and will be a demonstration of ‘Jewellery design’ by Lorna Wyn.
