South Meirionnydd Older People’s Forum

AT THE last meeting on Wednesday 28 June, the chair welcomed as guest speaker Mary Paige, known locally as the Bird Woman, who entertained members with her years of experiences of caring for young and injured birds.

Mary even brought one of her patients, in the guise of Cuddles the fledgling Blackbird, which she fed and watered during her talk.

The members enjoyed her presentation so much they made a collection and donated it to her to help towards her future costs.

The next meeting of the forum will take place on Wednesday, 26 July at the Neuadd Pendre, Tywyn.

Guest speaker will be Stuart Harmes of the Betsi Cadwaladr Health Board.

Cancer Research.

A TEAM of fund-raisers are looking to repeat their efforts of last year.

‘Mother and Kids Team’, Hilary Rowlands, Alison Beard and Cameron Beard, of Tywyn raised £326.67 for Cancer Research UK by running the Dolgoch Challenge for the annual Rotary Race the Train last August.

This year they will be running again to raise funds for the RNLI.
