CONCERNS have been raised over parents not keeping social distance at school gates when collecting children.

Ceredigion County Council has reminded parents and guardians across the county to follow social distancing guidelines when taking and collecting children to and from school.

In a statement, the council said: “Parents and guardians across Ceredigion are being reminded to follow social distancing guidelines when collecting their children.

“This comes following concerns that people are gathering outside school gates whilst dropping off and picking up their children at the start and end of the school day.

“We understand that people may not have seen each other for a while, but we ask that they consider their responsibility to keep a social distance in order to reduce the risk of coronavirus spreading.

“Schools in Ceredigion have worked hard to put measures in place to ensure all pupils and staff are safe.

“These include wearing face coverings on school transport and ensuring good hygiene practises, temperature screening, one way systems and thorough cleaning provisions in schools.

“In addition to this, the Contact Tracing system will be used in the event of any coronavirus case, and each school has a dedicated isolation room if a pupil or member of staff feels unwell during the day.

“We therefore ask all parents and guardians to support these efforts to minimise any risk of spreading the coronavirus.”

Schools across the county have staggered start and finish times for pupils in primary school and have set out markings for parents to adhere to when they arrive each day.
