Madam,

I understand that Gwynedd council is proposing to close the public toilets in Fairbourne and that they are not going to repair the concrete access ramp down onto the beach. I am at a loss as to why they are making it so difficult for people to enjoy the beach and there is a danger that people will access the beach through the sand dunes near the terminus of the road going to the point near the Fairbourne Railway. There is a possibility that people will swim in the sea there which is dangerous being so near to the estuary. Not good for publicity if someone drowns!

I live in Sutton Coldfield in the Midlands and bought a small property nearby as I enjoy the beach at Fairbourne and use the public toilets. I will think about going to Barmouth beach where there are better facilities should these proposals go ahead. Is there a deliberate ploy to “kill Fairbourne off”?

Yours etc,

Sheena Wells, Grosvenor Close, Sutton Coldfield.
