A MAN smashed a window of an Aberystwyth pub because he was “disgruntled” at being barred, his solicitor has said.
Gavin Lee Pugh, 29, admitted criminal damage at the Angel Inn on Thursday, 3 December.
Prosecutor Kevin Challinor said staff at the pub saw Pugh and realised he was barred.
He was told to leave, which Mr Challinor said he did “reluctantly” while remonstrating with staff, but was then seen to hit out at a window as he walked away, causing the window to smash.
Police were later called to the Castle Hotel to a report of a drunk male who was bleeding from his hand and Pugh, of Bronedd, Pentre Isaf in Llanrhystud, was arrested.
He admitted to officers that he had hit the window as he was walking away and said he would pay for the window. He said he couldn’t explain why he had lashed out, but admitted he had been drunk.
Defence solicitor Stephen Welch said Pugh had been “disgruntled” because he was barred and hit the window out of frustration.
Pugh was given a conditional discharge for six months, but will pay compensation of £85, costs totalling £100 and a court charge of £150.
