Criccieth Town Council’s clerk has been praised as she picked up a prestigious national award from her peers.
Dr Catrin Jones, Clerk to Criccieth Town Council, has been honoured with a top national award from the Society of Local Council Clerks (SLCC), her professional body.
Judges praised Dr Jones’ dedication to the local community and the work she has done attracting funding to the Gwynedd community.
Representing clerks from over 5,000 town, parish, and community councils across England and Wales, SLCC awarded Catrin the Heart of the Community Award at its National Conference Annual Award Ceremony on 13 October 2026.
Congratulating Catrin, Rob Smith, SLCC Chief Executive, remarked: “Catrin’s decade of service to her community is a remarkable example of what can be achieved through strong local leadership and a commitment to bringing people together.
“Her work has helped deliver an impressive range of projects, attract significant funding and gain national recognition, while ensuring that people of all ages and backgrounds have a voice.
“This award is a fitting recognition of Catrin’s dedication and the lasting impact she has made on her community.’
In response, Catrin said: “I’m truly honoured to receive this award and very grateful for the recognition.
“It’s a privilege to serve my community and to work with so many people to turn ideas into action. I’m particularly proud of the projects we have delivered together over the past ten years and the opportunities we have created for people of all ages and backgrounds to get involved. "
This award follows Catrin's success in winning the Best Magazine Article Award in the SLCC's magazine, The Clerk, in 2024. A regular contributor to the magazine, Catrin finds it rewarding to contribute to the shared knowledge and professional development of the sector.
