Six artists celebrate our place within the natural world in a new group show at Cardigan’s Canfas Gallery.

Oriel Canfas Gallery continues its dynamic programme this summer with ‘Natur’, a new group exhibition that invites us to look at nature, rather than past it - to notice what grows, gathers and endures around us, and to recognise our own place within the world.

‘Natur’ brings together artists whose work is grounded in close observation of the natural world. Their approaches vary, but each is concerned with how we notice, respond to and work alongside nature - whether through careful looking, or through processes and materials drawn directly from it.

Together, the works reflect on our place within nature and our dependence on it.

The exhibition brings together Sophie Myfanwy Wellan, Rose Sanderson, Marion Smylie, Vivienne Williams, Sigrid Müller, Sam & Apphia Ferguson-Ross, and Tom Hare.

The exhibition's run coincides with Craft Festival Wales at Cardigan Castle. The festival was founded by Director Sarah James MBE, whose vision has been instrumental in establishing Cardigan as a creative centre for West Wales. Canfas is a longstanding partner of the festival, and visitors will be able to see ‘Natur’ throughout the weekend.

‘Natur’ opens on 29 August and runs through to 26 September.

The gallery is open Tuesday to Saturday, from 10.30am–4pm, and on the Sunday during the Craft Festival.

Canfas is sponsor of the 2026 Eisteddfod Gold Medal for Fine Art and has established itself as one of the leading galleries in Wales, featured on BBC One News, Heno and in national newspapers.

The gallery collaborates with others to showcase established and emerging Welsh artists, alongside work from other nations. Canfas curates art that explores what it means to be human and our relationship with nature — work that pushes cultural, political and stylistic boundaries.
