Ceredigion residents can get half-price tickets for The Vale of Rheidol Railway throughout September as a thank you to the community.

The 50 per cent off Adult Standard Class Return tickets runs throughout September, giving locals the opportunity to travel from Aberystwyth to Devil’s Bridge for half the price.

There is also a third off First Class tickets for Ceredigion residents who fancy making the journey in a little more luxury.

“We’re incredibly proud to be part of Ceredigion and this is our way of saying thank you to the people who live here,” said Vale of Rheidol Railway Chief Executive Llŷr ap Iolo.

“It’s sometimes easy to overlook the things that are right on your doorstep. You might pass the railway regularly, have travelled with us years ago or perhaps have never actually made the journey.

“September is the perfect opportunity to put that right and enjoy the railway for half the usual adult fare.”

The 12-mile journey takes passengers from Aberystwyth into the Cambrian Mountains, climbing through

the Rheidol Valley behind one of the railway’s historic steam locomotives before reaching Devil’s Bridge.

“People travel considerable distances to experience the railway and the Rheidol Valley, whereas for Ceredigion residents it is quite literally on their doorstep,” he added.

“You don’t need to plan a holiday or travel halfway across the country. You can simply spend a day enjoying somewhere rather special close to home.

“Whether people bring the family, meet up with friends or just fancy a day out, we’d love to welcome them aboard.”

The 50 per cent discount applies to Adult Standard Class Return tickets for Ceredigion residents travelling during September 2026.

Residents booking online should enter the promotional code CEREDIGION at checkout and bring proof of their Ceredigion address when collecting their tickets.
