A TREMADOG rock climber has scooped a top award at the 2016 New York International Film and Television awards.
Patagonia Eric Jones ac Ioan Doyle took home the Silver Medal in the Boom Cymru documentary film for the programme which followed the two rock climbers on a journey to the Argentine province.
Eric is an adventurer and one of the world’s best solo climbers. In 1981, he was the first British person to do a solo ascent of the north face of the Eiger in the Alps.
Climbing the Central Pillar of Brouillard on Mount Blanc and the Bonatti Pillar on the Dru are also some of his many achievements.
In the documentary Eric, 79, takes a remarkable journey to the spine of the Andes in Patagonia to share his memories and life tales with the young climber Ioan Doyle, of Bethesda.
Ioan described the experience of climbing with Eric as ‘unforgettable’.
