CAMBRIAN News managing editor Bev Thomas and members of her family have pledged to each walk or run 100km to raise money for Alzheimer’s Research UK.
The pledge is part of the Running Down Dementia challenge organised by the charity to raise vital funds for dementia research
Bev is doing the 100k - which is just over 60 miles - with her sister, Mandy Williams and her niece, Amy Thomas.
Bev said: “We wanted to complete the challenge in memory of my lovely dad, David James, of Penrhyncoch, who recently passed away, aged 90, after a brave battle with the cruellest of illnesses, dementia.
“I will be pounding my miles on the treadmill at inclines of up to 35 per cent. Walking on the flat will be far too easy!
"My sister and my niece will be dancing their way to 100km.
"It will help me to get fit while paying tribute to my dad and helping to raise funds for such important research.”
The 100k challenge has to be completed by the end of August.
