FLOOD warnings has been issued on Aberaeron and Aberystwyth sea fronts this afternoon as gale force 9 winds sweep in.
Natural Resources Wales has issued red flood warnings for coastal areas of both towns at around 6.30pm.
In a statement, they say: "The winds are forecast to be gale force 9 from a south westerly direction.
"Offshore waves are expected to be very large.
"Large waves and high winds are expected to affect the length of the sea front in Aberystwyth and Aberaeron this afternoon.
"Wind assisted wave overtopping is likely to deposit debris onto the front. Debris thrown up by the waves can be dangerous. Be careful on the promenade area and the public are advised to stay clear of the area over the period of high tide."
An amber warning has also been issued for Barmouth and the Llyn Peninsula from 6.47pm this evening and officers will continue to monitor the situation
