A FARMING charity has benefited to the tune of £637 after a florist demonstrated his considerable skills.

RABI’s Meirionnydd committee organised the fundraiser at Canolfan Pennal, Machynlleth and guests enjoyed cheese and wine before and during the demonstration by Donald Morgan from Blodau’r Bedol, Llanrhystud.

Linda Jones, RABI’s regional manager for Wales, also spoke to guests about the charity’s work during the interval and Donald’s splendid exhibits were raffled off at the end of the night.

In 2016, the Royal Agricultural Benevolent Institution (gave out grants of more than £283,000 to farming people in financial hardship in Wales.

To fund its work, RABI relies heavily on voluntary donations, investment income and money raised at events arranged by county committees.

The Meirionnydd committee will celebrate its 30th anniversary next year and some special celebratory events are planned, including a gala concert with Rhys Meirion and friends on 16 June.

Linda said: “We are extremely grateful to Donald for fitting this charity evening into his busy schedule.

“He is incredibly skilful, it’s no surprise that he had a wedding and three funerals to prepare for the following day.”
