A LLANRHYSTUD florist has fulfilled a “lifetime achievement” after being chosen out of 20,000 people to arrange a main exhibition at the Chelsea Flower Show.
Donald Morgan, owner of Blodau’r Bedol florists, has been invited to form part of a team of seven people who will produce the main exhibition of the National Flower Arranging Society of Great Britain at the world-renowned Royal Horticultural Society Chelsea Flower Show between 24 and 28 May.
NAFAS has 21 areas across the UK which alternate responsibility for the arrangement at the annual flower show, often attended by the Queen and other members of the royal family, and will this year see the Three Counties and South Wales area given the chance to showcase their talents.
Mr Morgan, who is also a Llanrhystud community councillor and a governor at Ysgol Myfenydd, said it was a “great privilege” to be the first from Ceredigion and Aberystwyth Floral Society to be invited to arrange NAFAS’s exhibition, out of a pool of 20,000 members nationwide.
“I’m the first person who’s been chosen from this area so it is a great privilege and a lifetime achievement for me,” he said.
