Gritters will be out on the roads of Ceredigion tonight as drivers are warned to keep an eye on the forecast.

Showers will continue in the west of Wales this evening before skies clear and the weather turning chilly, with some areas as low as 2°C.

As a result, Ceredigion County Council says its gritters will be out on the primary routes in the county tonight due to the danger of ice and frost.

The primary routes cover approximately 463km of the county’s road network, which represents around 20 per cent of the total.

These roads are predetermined and and include the entire trunk and principal road system and most important B, C and unclassified roads, according to the council’s website.

Stockpiles of salt totalling 9,800 tonnes are stored at the two highway depots located at Aberystwyth and Penrhos, near Llandysul.
