A MEIRIONNYDD headteacher has completed the “most gruelling and exhausting walk” of her life, raising over £1,500 in the process.
Helen Lewis, who the head teacher at Ysgol Uwchradd Tywyn, walked an arduous 50-kilometre route over the course of 17 hours through the Peak District in memory of her father-in-law, Meredith Lewis.

Helen’s husband Myfyr, and his brother Aled, tragically lost their father to dementia in October 2013.
To help battle the cruel disease, the brothers, along with Helen and Michelle Bain, decided to take on ‘TrekFest: The Peaks’ at the start of the month to raise money for Dementia UK as ‘Tywyn Trek Team’. The daunting challenge saw the team trek 50km, incorporating the highest point in the Peak District: Kinder Scout (2,087ft).
