AN ABERYSTWYTH hairdresser, who has raised thousands of pounds for cancer charities in the past two years, will have her head shaved next month as part of her latest fundraising drive.
Nia Gore is holding a sponsored head shave event at Aberystwyth Rugby Club on Saturday, 1 September.
The event, which has seen 120 tickets sold, will also feature a raffle and entertainment from singer Paul Dark.
Nia, 40, said: “I’m raising money for Marie Curie and Ystwyth Surgery District Nurses Equipment Fund. People who know me know I’m quite vain with my hair, but I hit 40 in September last year and wanted to do something mad whilst I’m still 40.
"I decided on shaving my hair, as I know quite a lot of people affected by cancer, who have had to go through treatment and the loss of their hair, so if I can raise money whilst doing something like this, then it’s good.”
If anyone would like to donate a raffle prize to the event, contact Nia on 07968 652822.
