WALES has recorded 6,755 new cases of coronavirus today – along with 10 deaths.

The rate of infection nationwide currently stands at 662.3 cases per 100,000 population as the nation prepares for stricter measures after Boxing Day.

Ceredigion has today recorded one of the highest daily number of cases seen in the county with 242 new cases.

Elsewhere, Gwynedd has recorded 337 new cases with Carmarthenshire recording 281 and Pembrokeshire, 248.

Powys has recorded 179 new cases today.

10 deaths have been recorded nationwide today, taking the total number of Covid-19 related fatalities since the start of the pandemic to 6,545.

No new deaths have been recorded in the Hywel Dda Health Board region of Ceredigion, Carmarthenshire and Pembrokeshire, with the region’s total remaining at 626.

No new deaths have been recorded either in the Betsi Cadwaladr region of north Wales or in Powys, with their totals remaining at 1,127 and 86 respectively.
