HYWEL Dda Health Board has launched a 12-week consultation into its proposals that could see a retention of services at Bronglais Hospital and a community health hub with beds created in Aberystwyth.

The Aberystwyth community hub would be staffed by GPs, nurses and therapists, and offer outpatient services and maybe X-rays, to take pressure off Bronglais.

The consultation process also includes plans for a new purpose-built hospital between Narberth and St Clears with the current Glangwili Hospital in Carmarthen and Withybush Hospital in Pembrokeshsire losing their emergency services.

The proposals will now go out to consultation before a final decision is made by the health board.

Drop-in events in Ceredigion have been scheduled for Friday, 4 May between 2pm and 7pm at the Great Hall in Cardigan’s Guildhall and between 2pm and 7pm on Friday, 18 May at Aberystwyth’s Morlan Centre.

The health board has published an online questionnaire on its website, but consultation responses can also be made by emailing [email protected], phoning on 01554 899056 or attending a drop-in event.

Health board chief executive Steve Moore said it was important that people provided feedback to the consultation.

He said: “Our proposals for change could affect everyone in our area, from bumps and babies to older people and everyone in between, so we are asking you all to tell us what you think.

“Whether you are a patient, a carer, a family member, or one of the thousands of people who work for the health board - we want to hear from you."
