THE future of an Aberystwyth care home is still uncertain after a council meeting descended into farce.

Concerns have already been raised over the future of Bodlondeb after a report outlined a major U-turn on whether there would be dedicated EMI nursing care beds.

Hywel Dda Health Board told Ceredigion Councilit would not fund a dedicated block of EMI beds, despite that being the council’s initial plan.

But, despite members of the public travelling from Aberystwyth to hear discussions over the future of the home during a Cabinet meeting, the situation worsened when the council withdrew the report on the day of the meeting.

Deputy leader Ray Quant said the report on the tender document had been withdrawn as Hywel Dda Health Board had only raised a vital issue the day before the meeting. The report is now due to be discussed on Tuesday, 5 April.

A spokesperson said: “Ceredigion Council is working in partnership with Hywel Dda Health Board to explore EMI nursing provision within the county."
