PLANS to install new life-saving equipment in Dolgellau Hospital are well on track thanks to a successful fund-raising evening.

Cllr Linda Morgan, who is chair of the Dolgellau branch of the hospital’s league of friends, was presented a cheque for £2,200 after a charity auction held in the Free Library in September.

£1,200 was raised on the evening with Barclays Bank matchfunding the first £1,000 collected.

The cheque was handed over by Karen Roberts who works at the local bank branch.

Cllr Morgan said: “I would like to thank Karen Roberts for arranging match funding for us, for this very good cause.

“The auction was organised to raise funds for two 24-hour ECG machines for the hospital in Dolgellau which will cost £4,500 in total.”

A ECG machine is able to detect conditions of the heart and allow for more preventative treatment.

Cllr Morgan added: “Special thanks to all those who helped at the auction which was an enjoyable event with Cllr Dyfrig Siencyn as the auctioneer.

“Despite the weather it was a great success and we raised £1,200 on the evening.

“I’m grateful to everyone for their contributions to the auction and to the many financial contributions on the night, too many to mention but a big thank you to you all.

“The fund will stay open until Wednesday, 22 November and we will announce the total at our next committee meeting which is at 6pm on 23 November.”
