Peter Skitt, who has recently returned to the role of Ceredigion county director for Hywel Dda Health Board, said that while the priority was to complete new facilities in Tregaron and Cardigan, both of which have been on the drawing board for years, he was also keen to reconsider plans for a new health facility at Aberaeron to replace the current hospital.
He told the Ceredigion locality committee of Hywel Dda Community Health Council that while there had been a “hiccup” over progress of the Cardigan scheme he was hopeful that could be overcome, although admitted it was difficult to see a timeframe for progress as negotiations with a neighbouring landowner was required.
But Mr Skitt said there was better news on the progress of the Cylch Caron scheme in Tregaron which is being jointly provided by the health board and Ceredigion County Council.
He told CHC members that a tender process was currently underway to find a partner to deliver the scheme and said: “There are positive steps there in moving forward.”
