ALL council leisure facilities are to close on Thursday – but it is hoped leisure centres that have been closed for nearly two years will reopen in the New Year.

Plascrug Leisure Centre in Aberystwyth, Cardigan Leisure Centre and Lampeter Swimming Pool have al been closed since the start of the pandemic.

But Ceredigion County Council says work is nearing completion on all tree sites and will be ‘in a position to re-open in the New Year’.

But the council added: “However, there has been a significant increase in the number coronavirus cases in Ceredigion, with some areas of the county being amongst the highest in Wales.

As a result, all council leisure facilities will close on 23 December 2021. The re-opening date for these facilities will be reviewed in the New Year and will be dependent on the number of coronavirus cases in the county at that time and when it is safe to do so.”

“The council recognises that it has been a challenging period for all concerned and we look forward to welcoming the citizens of Ceredigion back to our facilities and providing the opportunity for them to be physically active once again.”
