A NURSE at a Llandysul care home was dismissed after failing to respond to repeated requests from a colleague for assistance with a vulnerable patient, a disciplinary hearing has been told.
Appearing before the Nursing and Midwifery Council in Cardiff, Kgalalelo Motsisi was also said to have failed to respond to a request for assistance from another colleague while being the nurse in charge of a shift on 10 February 2015.
The hearing was told that Mrs Motsisi – a nurse with a previously “unblemished” record – had been working at Blaendyffryn Hall, a 25-bedded nursing home caring for residents who have dementia and suffer from declining health, since July 2009.
Other charges that she had rolled her eyes and said “I’m b****dy busy” when asked to assist a patient; failed to respond to the emergency call bell; that she failed to provide a discharge letter as well as not providing the patient with catheters and/or catheter bags; and stating: “you cannot take what the carers say seriously” when asked why she did not respond to concerns raised in relation to another patient, were either found not proved or not proved in their entirety.
“The panel was of the view that your actions did fall significantly short of the standards expected of a registered nurse, and that your actions amounted to a breach of the code,” Mrs Motsisi was told in a report.
