COASTAL communities are being warned to brace themselves for more wild weather over the wind.

The Met Office has issued a yellow wind warning for largely coastal communities from Aberystwyth and stretching as far north as the Llyn Peninsula.

Residents are being warned to prepare for gusts of up to 70mph, bordering on hurricane windspeeds.

The region has already been lashed by high winds this months with countless properties across Ceredigion and Gwynedd being damaged two weeks ago.

The warning is in place for between 4am and 3pm on Saturday and reads: "Some very strong and gusty winds are likely during Saturday.

"Some delays to road and rail transport are likely with journeys taking longer.

"Delays for high sided vehicles are likely on exposed routes and bridges.

"Short term loss of power and other services is also possible."

The Met Office’s chief forecaster added: "Strong easterly winds will develop on Saturday morning with some very strong gusts on the western side of high ground.

"Gusts of 60 mph are possible in places with a low likelihood of isolated 70 mph gusts.

"Winds will then ease from the north later on Saturday afternoon."
